Bempton Cliffs & bird reserve

The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds' describes Bempton as

".... over three miles of sheer cliffs, rising to 400 feet/122 m, Bempton is the best place in England to see breeding seabirds (over 200,000).
Five safe viewing points give spectacular close-up views of puffins, gannets, guillemots, razorbills, kittiwakes and fulmars between April and mid-August. At other times there are migrating birds to be seen and possibly seals and porpoises.

A family favourite, and easily the best place in England to see, hear and smell seabirds! More than 200,000 birds (from April to August) make the cliffs seem alive – with adults bringing food to their nests, or young chicks making their first faltering flights.
With huge numbers to watch, beginners can easily learn the difference between gannets, guillemots, razorbills, kittiwakes and fulmars. The easily recognisable puffins (here between April and July) are always a delight.”

Golf. Nearby Ganton Golf Club, shown below, is one of the finest championship golf courses in England, host to the 2003 Walker Cup and many previous championships including the Ryder Cup. Ganton is one of nine major examinations for an experienced golfer, including the local Flamborough Head course.

The Yorkshire Wolds.  Immortalised on canvas by David Hockney in his recent Yorkshire Wolds paintings, this area is widely regarded as a hidden gem of English landscapes. With magnificent skies, rolling countryside and the legacy of careful husbandry by generations of farming families , the Wolds complement the drama of the seascapes on the doorstep of the North Star Hotel.
